Practice routine
Metronome – Groove and Timing
Using a metronome to work on groove and timing issues. Sometimes I use a drum kit to play to because this feels more authentic.
Playing through the Melodic minor scale stepwise – experimenting with different sub division s to focus on accuracy i.e 8th note practice, syncopated phrases. I utilise the full neck of guitar to practice scales in different positions.
Practice through covers – have metronome and noodle with focus on accents and articulation – phrasing.
Developing scale work – Caged major and minor to develop pentatonic knowledge to support more memorable top-lines (hooks with spice)
Working on regional compositions
